What is a hypocrite?

A hypocrite is a person who pretends to have morals, virtues, or beliefs that they do not actually possess. They say one thing but do another. Hypocrites may display false piety or righteousness, and often judge others harshly for doing the same things that they themselves do.

Hypocrisy is considered a character flaw or moral failing. It can lead to a loss of trust and respect from others, as well as a sense of guilt or shame in the hypocrite themselves when they are revealed to be faking their beliefs or values.

Some examples of hypocrites may include politicians who espouse family values but engage in extramarital affairs, religious leaders who preach humility but live luxuriously, or activists who champion social justice causes but behave in discriminatory ways towards certain groups.
